Today is a very special day! It is my grandmother’s 95th birthday. It is ALSO my half birthday. I am thrilled to still have her here with us and so today we honor her. One of the SPF members is also celebrating their 6th birthday today. Is that you Ms. Katelyn?
Nothing says birthdays better than FACEPAINT! I never had my face painted as a child, but have taken A. out to have her’s done many times. During several events that I coordinated, I would always make sure there were 6 – 10 facepainters. I love to watch the kids come alive when they get the special one on one treatment. What is so cute, is when they walk up shy and timid, but as their design is solidified on the gorgeous faces, they seem to become empowered. Like a superhero who has just donned their cape. They are truly wonderful experiences.
ACTIVITY – FACEPAINT!
So let’s play with paint. Now in the past, we have always just used the acrylic paints from Walmart and designed with those using paintbrushes. But if you have any allergies to paint products, I found a natural recipe that might work for your family better. Especially if you have LATEX allergies. Try this out and see if it works for you.
I have posted above some simple images you can start with, or you can google whatever images you want to paint, simple to hard. But I’m going to tell you the real secret to facepainting.
The real secret…. is black. Whatever image you paint, make sure to outline it in black. It defines the image better since it’s on a 3D object (their face). While we didn’t use black on the ones below, they would have been lots better if we did.
I hope you have fun with this one, and if you get the chance, since it’s my 1/2 birthday and all, eat a piece of chocolate for me. 😀
Downloads from God – Journal Entry #7 – Word Play
As I was chatting with God this morning, He asked me a simple question. What is the difference between these words. I thought about it and gave Him my answer. He then asked me to ask a friend. So I did. What is interesting is that their definition, how they regularly processed these words, was not the same as mine. I mean REALLY not the same.
So, today, just for fun. I’d like you to write about each of these words in your journal. Ponder them as you go through your day. Also think of specific instances where you experienced each one and write about those things as well. Let the Father guide you as you write. You may even learn something about yourself that you didn’t realize before.
Are you ready for the words?
- Glad
- Happy
- Joy
Do NOT go see what Websters defines them as. I want your OWN interpretation of these specific words. How do YOU define them in your own life. What images come to your mind when you hear them. Do you think of them as the same? or are they different? Have you ever experienced all three of them? if so, when? Where you alone or with friends? Did they also experience the emotion or did you experience it separately? Do you feel that these are attainable? or that only some people experience them? Have you experienced them outside of having children? Do you think of the first two as ones you experience as a child, but the third is a grown up version of the first two?
If you feel comfortable sharing, I’d love to know what you come up with. I’m actually anxious to see how you perceive these words and why you feel like you do. I would be honored if you would share your thoughts with me either in email, a PM or on the SPF page.
