Welcome to the SPF 75 Summer Program. Make sure to join our Facebook page and Twitter feed for updates during the day. I am so excited about this program and anxious to share it with you, so let’s get the details out of the way.
Each day I will post a new day of activities. You can participate as much or as little as you want and you can do it anywhere you want. There are only two rules.
- Every activity that you try, look at it with a different perspective than before. All of the activities are designed to use your five senses and help you see the world in a different way. Journaling your experiences would be a funtastic way to remember all of the fun things you are about to discover.
- HAVE FUN! Fun is a choice and you are the one that makes that choice. Be expectant that the activity will BE fun, and don’t forget to come back and share. I love to hear stories about how the activities make an impact so please, please, please share you stories with me.
There WILL BE prizes. All week long you will have a chance to enter and at the end of the week I will draw for the prize of that week. Keep your eyes open for more about that.
Safety is key with any of the ideas and activities, so please make sure you have a responsible adult with you and that you use all the necessary precautions.
All the activities are high fun but low cost. I will try to send out a list of possible things you will need at the beginning of each week.
And lastly, one my favorite parts of the summer. Reading. I have to share a quick story. When my daughter was five, we enrolled in the Summer Reading Program at our local library. Our goal was to read enough books to win the bike. We read 1128 picture books together that summer. We won the bike, but the memories that we have of that summer are still one of our favorites.
But the best part, is we kept a list of all of those books. She has started her own page, with her own recommendations of the best books of the summer. You can visit her page to see her book reviews of both the best picture and chapter books here. They will also be included in the daily activities. Every day she will have three picture books and one chapter book that you will enjoy. You can find it at the library, or preview at her Amazon listing.
Well that about wraps it up.
Here’s to the best summer ever!
