I am so excited that it’s July. In June, we had some amazing fun, painted, baked, got messy, geocached and gave away some great gift cards.
This month we are going to continue all of those things, but also continue to keep that perspective of looking at everything with new eyes. Eyes that see the same things, but perhaps from a different angle, or facet. All of the activities are designed for seeing things differently, but still having loads of fun.
We are going to work each day this month on 31 days to a grateful heart. I will have prompts each day that you can use, or explore others on your own. This is going to be a very personal experience. Please only share this portion with us on Facebook if you feel comfortable. I have been praying very specifically to God that He will give me the right questions to prompt you with each day. These will be hand delivered messages straight from Him. Only He knows exactly what each of you is going through right now as well as your children. So these are unique, special and very timely to this exact time in your life.
Activity 1: Journal
For our 31 days, you will need a journal. Something that reflects your uniqueness. If you want to visit the dollar store, or make one from scratch, either is perfectly fine. Some of the best journals I have ever had were regular school spiral bound notebooks. I often found the prettier they were, the less I wanted to use them. My favorites are paperbag and recycled paper journals that I have made myself. Just remember, the activity is about your thoughts going in the journal, not how pretty the journal is.
Activity 2: Journal Entry #1
Your first entry is a super fun one. I want you to think back to when you were a child, and for your children this will be a current memory. What is the one most favorite memory you think of from your childhood? Is it a smell? a person? an event? I have found as I have asked this, there may be more than one. Perhaps a series or a set of things that spring to mind. All of those are ok. Jot them down, including as many details as you can remember. Let you pen flow free with all the sweet memories. Whatever comes to mind, jot it down with joy.
All of July, I will replace A. Pumpkin Recommends with the journal prompts. So make sure to look for them at the bottom of the daily activities.
Activity 3: Art or Junk Journals
If you are super creative and sometimes your words look more like pictures, then this portion is for you. Art or Junk Journals are a great way to express your feelings or thoughts, and are incredibly wonderful at looking at the same thing, with different eyes. The below is a phone book, that was transformed into a junk journal.
Junk Journals are extremely fun, and extremely time consuming. So proceed with fun caution.
I found the sweetest little lady that has done these for YEARS and has wealth of information on her you tube channel. WARNING: Her videos are LONG and sweet.
If these are your thing, then I hope you have a blast! I hope when yours is done you will share it with all of us, so that we can admire it as well.
