I’m super excited about today’s fun. I can remember when I was very young, I saw someone on T.V. with a large round hoop making 6 – 8 foot long bubbles. I can remember being so overwhelmed with excitement as they grew longer and longer. It was much later, when I was in high school, my favorite Physics teacher explained that it was physically impossible for a bubble to be any other shape than round.
I was shocked. I had never really thought about it, but I was sure there was also some way around it. He explained very carefully that the laws of Physics are in fact the law, and they can only be superseded by a higher law. End of story. Well, I didn’t tell him, there’s almost always a loop hole and today our friends at SheLovesScience are going to help us out with that.
Activity: Square Bubbles
All you will need for the bubble fun is straws, pipecleaner, and dish soap. That’s it. Super easy and super fun! Which is perfect for this busy Independence Day weekend. Plus, they will be great to show off around guests. Bubbles are simply happy.
Downloads from God – Journal Entry #2 – A Song from the Past
This is your special download from God. Think about a time when you were younger, what one song comes to your mind that moves you to tears.
For this exercise, I want you to find a quiet place, even if it’s the bathroom. For some of you, your life NEVER slows down, for you this tip might help. Take a note card and write “A song that moves me to tears.” Tape it to a wall that you pass by often, and as you do allow the Lord to bring something to mind.
There are no wrong answers. These are YOUR answers. Most songs bring to mind a time or a place, journal about that. Let your pen flow freely. Don’t hold back. The Lord was not clear if these were tears of joy, or sadness. So either is completely fine.
When I first received the assignment, I began to think of rock songs and country western songs from my high school years. But as I was quiet, I heard my spirit ring so loud that I began to sing.
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
I was instantly back in the 80’s in the back seat of my grandmothers car with her. She always liked to ride in the back like my grandfather was chauffeuring her around. That song came on an 8 track tape he was playing. I had never heard either of them talk about heaven, but in that moment they were free. They told me how they longed for heaven and even how they desired THAT song to be played at their funeral. It was such a sweet, wonderful moment as if we had been captured to Heaven right then. There was no time only now. I could feel that one day I would be without them, but we would always have this moment together. They are both gone now, and I miss them both terribly.
This was the song from that day.
