There’s something special about those first 18 months with your child. They are so cute and adorable and even their drooling can stop us in our tracks to observe it. But when A. Pumpkin was that little, we lived in the hottest place on the planet.
Arizona.
Summers there easily soar between 115 and 122. I guarantee you I can feel the difference between 115 and 116. Each degree has a unique feeling on your skin and could cause you to identify with Dali’s painting, The Persistence of Memory.
For us, the only escape was better air conditioning, which for us, could only be found at the mall. I walked many miles at the mall in Chandler. I have logged more walking hours in that stroller than I care to admit and the only thing that slowed us down was Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. There is something so heavenly about a soft pretzel. They are one of the most fun foods on the planet.
Which of course, is why we MUST make them.
I found this new recipe that is simple AND fun. Kara at Creations by Kara has this great recipe. So if you are done blowing up the elephants toothpaste, it’s time for some cooking fun.
What I love about making pretzels is there are NO rules about design. When it comes to the design phase, let your children’s imagination run wild. We often make them in our initials, but I am going to share with you a secret. I think I am going to cook some sausage and wrap mine around a piece or two. Yum, just thinking about it is making me hungry. What will YOU do with your pretzels?
Downloads from God – Journal Entry #6 – Back in Time
With God, it can sometimes be difficult to know if you are in training for something else. I find that some exercises are very wax on, wax off. I tease Him all the time about being very Mr. Miyagi like from Karate Kid. We go through the motions of some monotonous exercise wondering what will this profit, until we realize, He has been building our muscles the whole time for the “real” exercise.
So today, rest assured that this simple and wonderful exercise is doing just that. Building you up for a later time, when all will be revealed.
Today, you are to think of someone (back in time) that you have lost contact with, but they have made a huge impact on your life. All you are going to do, is shoot them a text, an email or PM on Facebook and just tell them the inspiration they were to you. Share what they did that made you feel the way you do. It’s important to tell others when they have made an impact on our lives. See the funny thing is, you don’t know just how much THEY might need that word of encouragement this very second.
Don’t forget to put all the details in your journal.
