Today’s Fun includes:
- Fizzy Sherbert
- Skinny Cows
One cool thing about being a kid is candy. Tons of it. Halloween is one of the best times because you could taste test all the different ones. You were given PERMISSION to test out candy. I mean what better fun is that? Well getting paid to test it would be great too.
I would separate my candy into three categories. The really good stuff, the ok stuff and chocolate. I remember there were these yellow lemon drops that were sour that were amazing. I would rub all the taste buds off just sucking on them. Those were wonderful times!
Today is National Sour Candy Day, and I found the neatest activity. It doesn’t take long, I’m sure most of you already have the ingredients in your kitchen and it is FUN!
Activity: Fizzy Sherbert
I found this at laughing kids learn. The Brit’s call things differently than we do. So this is NOT the typical Sherbert that you are thinking. I think it’s more like pop rocks. Nevertheless, this looks like huge fun.
There are really only three ingredients. Powdered Sugar, Citric Acid and Jello. I have a photo below of what I will be using. I think this will be super fun and can’t wait to see what you think.
Downloads from God – Journal Entry #15 – Skinny Cows
I don’t know exactly why it happens, but some years there are a ton of weeds outside. I’m often reminded of Joseph interpreting the Pharaoh’s dreams.
You remember this one right?
There will be seven fat cows and then seven skinny cows will come, and then eat the seven fat cows. Joseph interpreted this to mean there would be seven good years filled with plenty, overflowing and abundant, but then seven years that nothing would grow. There would be a mighty famine in the land during those years.
For me, this is a skinny cow year.
Everything that you can imagine that would ruin a yard or garden, has been here. First there was the weather, the lack of rain and wrong temperatures. Then there were the weeds that have completely taken over and are crowding out the grass. But if that wasn’t bad enough, we’ve had an infestation of rabbits devouring everything in sight, reminding me of the plaque of grasshoppers that Moses saw in Exodus. In 11 years, I have never seen it like this. Which has caused me to deem it a “skinny cow”.
We know skinny cows are going to come. The Bible warns us that they will be come. But what do we do WHEN they come?
The answer is that we FEED off the fat cows. I think that is so important right now, because you are either having a fat cow or a skinny cow year.
If you are having a fat cow year, then document it. Take pictures of it, CELEBRATE it. Store up memories to enjoy during the lean years. I remember the last really fat cow I had was in 2009. I remember the Lord told me specifically to drink in the world. I smelled every smell I could. Even bad smells, I took note of. I took hundreds of photos in my mind and with a camera of all the fun and good times we were having. I tried to document in my mind all of it. Not letting a single drop of those memories drop to the ground. I kept it all stored up for the lean years.
Now, I’m in the lean years. I am eating off of every memory, every smell (good and bad) and every experience from that time. I know you may think that’s strange, but even the bad smells of a fat cow, smell better that the best smells of a skinny cow.
Whichever cow you are having, remember the other one is on it’s way.
If you are having a fat one, then the skinny one will come. BE PREPARED. STORE UP
If you are having the skinny one, be encouraged! The fat one is just around the corner. CHEER UP and get ready to replenish & STOCK UP!
Journal it ALL! 😀
