In today’s issue:
The Best Book of the Summer
I have waited patiently ALL summer for this. We said we’d reveal the top books we’ve read over the years and today we uncover our top favorite chapter book. This is the creme of the crop.
But first, the lead up. This author has been publishing material since I was in middle school. Since I went to school with the Flinstones, you can imagine how long ago that was. I remember reading his column while I would eat my lunch at home. Back then, all we had was the newspaper. No phones, computers or tablets. Life was so simple.
He is outlandishly funny, and normally writes for an adult audience. However, by chance one day, I became aware of him writing chapter books for kids. I checked out a sample on Amazon, and bought the book immediately. Who is this amazing author?
Dave Barry
He’s not just an author, he’s a Pulitzer Prize winning humorist.
So here’s our activity. If you can find it at your library, I promise it won’t disappoint you. Click on the book to take you to Amazon and read the preview. This is one that you want to lock yourself away with and savor it slowly. Make a tent, pop some popcorn and pour a tall glass of iced tea, gather your items and steal yourself away to enjoy it. {I would suggest a LARGE chocolate bar as one of your life supplies… yum}
We totally loved it, laughed through it and we think you will too. If you get through this one, he has a second one that we are slowly devouring. It’s the sequel listed below.
